Date: October 23, 2025 from 4:30 - 8:30 pm
Location: Hotel UMASS, The Amherst Room
Join us at Hotel UMASS for a Fall Dinner Symposium of learning, connection, and inspiration. The evening includes an optional tour of the Briere Human Milk Laboratory, networking over appetizers and dinner, and a featured lecture by Dr. Anna M. Kidman, internationally recognized neonatal clinical nurse specialist and researcher.
Dr. Kidman will explore why interface selection is critical in neonatal respiratory care, offering practical insights on differentiating support techniques, comparing pressure- versus flow-based systems, and applying strategies that directly improve outcomes for critically ill newborns.
This session will equip neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, and physicians with evidence-based tools to make confident clinical decisions—because in neonatal respiratory support, the interface truly matters.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will differentiate between pressure-generating and flow-delivering respiratory support systems to select the most appropriate modality based on the underlying pathophysiology of neonatal respiratory conditions.
- Nursing specific care of non-invasive respiratory support. Participants will learn the essential steps for correctly setting up and managing non-invasive respiratory support equipment, including proper sizing, positioning, and troubleshooting common issues that may arise during the use of these devices.
