This discussion will delve into the legislative process, from how a bill becomes law to the impact of professional organizations on Capitol Hill. Gain evidence-based strategies for sharing your story effectively, staying informed on legislative priorities, and driving meaningful change in healthcare policy.
Objectives:
Describe how a bill becomes or fails to become a law
Describe a typical Capitol Hill event with a professional organization
Explain a reason why nurses need to share their stories on Capitol Hill
Identify after election steps for staying informed on important legislative and advocacy priorities
 This activity has been submitted to the Northeast Multistate Division Education Unit for approval to award contact hours. The Northeast Multistate Division Education Unit is an accredited approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
